The 2018 e3 Robotics competition will take place February 21st, at the Family Center 1715 NC 68 Oak Ridge, NC
E3 Robotics created this national competition as a free downloadable resource. Based on the MATE competition so that it allows for a seamless transition from land to underwater robotics. E3 Robotics uses robots – also known as remotely operated vehicles or ROVs – to teach science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and prepare students for technical careers. Working in partnership with Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) e3 Robotics created this ROV competition as a way to:
E3 Robotics is the Carolinas Regional Sponsor which includes North and South Carolina.Using underwater robots – also known as remotely operated vehicles or ROVs – to teach science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and prepare students for technical careers. Working in partnership with the Marine Technology Society ROV Committee, MATE created the ROV competition as a way to:
The MATE competition challenges K-12, community college, and university students from all over the world to design and build ROVs to tackle missions modeled after scenarios from the ocean workplace. The competition’s class structure of beginner, intermediate, and advanced complements the education pipeline by providing students with the opportunity to build upon their skills – and the application of those skills – as they engineer increasingly more complex ROVs for increasingly more complex mission tasks. The MATE competition requires students to think of themselves as “entrepreneurs” and transform their teams into companies that manufacture, market, and sell “products.” In addition to engineering their ROVs, the students are required to prepare technical reports, poster displays, and engineering presentations that are delivered to working professionals who serve as competition judges. The 2018 MATE international ROV competition will take place June 21-23 at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, WA, USA.

Terraforming, what is it? To terraform is to transform a planet as to resemble Earth so it can support human life. The planet we will be terraforming this year is Mars. The planet Mars is one of the best candidates for human settlement, of course tHat is after it has been terraformed. We will need to make many changes to the atmosphere, radiation and temperatures. Just because it sounds impossible, does not mean it is.
